A fairly strong southerly wind this morning produced a bit of finch movement with the following species going south: 8 Siskin, 20 Linnet, 21 Chaffinch and 32 Greenfinch.
Further sightings include: Another Red Kite flying south over the reserve at 14:50pm. Single Firecrest this morning per Kev Wilson. Common Buzzard x3 (flew east 20 minutes before the Red Kite appeared) Merlin x1 Sparrowhawk x2 (Displaying over Croft Marsh) Little Ringed Plover x1 (Harveys Hide) Chiffchaff x3 Avocet x30 Common Eider x27 Ringed Plover x17 Stonechat x2 (Pair) Golden Plover x51 (Croft Marsh, at least 3 in breeding plumage) Goldcrest x7 (West Dunes) Wigeon x4 Corn Bunting x15 (Singing in Sycamore near the hump) Pintail x2 (Pair)
