A lot of Larids on Riverslea pit between 0630 and 1000 this morning. Picked out a couple of Yellow legged gulls and a possible Caspian, but find these quite hard and this sod wouldnt stop still (espically as I wanted a side by side to a Herring Gull). They were all on the island on Riverslea so were quite a distance from bridleway. Picked it up on chest, head, skinny legs and eye quite forward but was not happy to confirm ID. Other gulls: 161 Black-headed Gull, 20 LBB, 15 GBB and 5 Herring Gull.
Other highlights around the reserve: 1 Turtle Dove 2 Avocet (4 young are active) 1 Garden Warbler 2 Lesser Whitethroat 1 Chiffchaff 1 Blackcap 2 Little Ringed Plover (1 yg) Common Terns caused a stir when a Sparrowhawk turned up
Thanks
