I am not sure where you are getting some of these records from but posting without any observer information adds to the confusion involved in trying to sort out the veracity of the sightings after the event;

I assume no-one you know saw this bird as it was to my knowledge only seen by one observer and I was on the scene within a minute and missed the bird that had been roosting on afield with Golden Plovers before flying off north; as this post stands it looks as if you or someone from your group has recorded the bird which I assume they did not but I may be mistaken.

the problem with taking records from Birdguides is that we usually do not know who has reported the bird and thus cannot follow it up for verification if no details are forthcoming --this has caused problems in the past and though it is assumed by many people that only correct records are published by the bird information services I afraid that this is not the case.
