0615 - 0800 sea and shore
A large feeding flock of terns and gulls is building again now - up to 620 sandwich tern and 500 large gulls (too distant to sort any Caspian!), with 40 gannets - surprisingly no skueas - a couple of arctics were seen yesterday.
Also, a good southerly movement of waders, mostly knot, dunlin, redshank and sanderling with a few turnstone, whimbrel, golden plover, greenshank and oystercatcher. The highlights being 3 curlew sand (2 sum plum) and a stint sp (presumably little).
Also of interest in the dunes this month, five seperate juv great spot woodpeckers have been ringed, two treecreepers arrived last week - v early record for us and robin, great tit and whitethroat in particular seem to have produced good numbers of young.
Regards
Kev
