A group of 31 Turtle Doves in a dead tree at Sempringham, south of Sleaford at noon today is by far the most I've seen for many years.

Sounds like that tree might qualify for SSSI status, having 1% of Lincolnshire's turtle doves in it!!

They were presumably a localised concentration of passage birds - no obvious food source or anything to attract them.

On journey to work today, I had 2 Turtle Dove feeding on road just outside Fulbeck, and 1 north of Brant Broughton - I guess they were after spilt grain?

A turtle Dove 'purring' at 1945hrs. this evening from within the West Ashby pits area, the only reliable site in my area that I now seem to be able to locate this species these days. Rather late in the season to be still calling?
