Astonished that this and the other colour ringed Sanderling have not been reported other than at their place of ringing for 5 and 8 years respectively!! I assume they must have been in the UK previously but not reported. It shows the value of colour ringing and persistent observation - well done Nige.

Observing the species if ringed is difficult so is it more likely lack of observations rather than reporting Stuart ?
I have seen colour ringed Sanderlings on Theddlethorpe foreshore but have been unable to observe the full sequence
of colour rings.

By keeping a low profile on Millenium Ridge at Gib I find that waders will come very close at high tide. I have recently learnt that Sanderling can hop on one leg as fast as they can run on two!
