Marton 27 Nov Sparrowhawk (young male) seen take house sparrow in front garden and then pluck it on the lawn about 3m away from me (viewing through window). Got a few photos but then neighbour's cat almost got the sparrowhawk! Should have taken a video of it all really. |

my sparrow, sparrowhawk and cat story went like this... big kerfuffle in beech hedge, sudden appearance of a sparrow closely followed by a sparrowhawk, in the hedge, around the hedge, faster and faster, the sparrowhawk gaining all the while and as they clatter into the hedge bottom they disappear... a cat walks out with the sparrow in it's mouth, it had evaded the hawk and flown straight into the cat's mouth. How unlucky. |
