BBC News reports that hunting of wild birds in Afghanistan has reached epidemic levels, partly due to the dire state of the Economy there. One Government Official describes the situation as a "Genocide of Birds". Many species have become rare and some, endangered, including the Siberian Crane. There may be some evidence that migratory birds may be changing their routes to avoid the hunters but it looks as though the damage has already been done. Is this another Conservation issue we can do nothing about?
