Has Anbody got any updates on this bird hasn't been reported on this site for a long time now. Would like to know if it is still around as I may visit Ruckland next week as I still haven't seen the bird yet. Probably the only birdwatcher in Lincolnshire not to see it yet :(

Many thanks Anthony

Me and you Anthony :D I've given up in the hope that when say, I am next visiting Gib point, an enormous buzzard will land next to me! But as for visiting Ruckland I've seen enough of that hill and the ponds at the bottom to last me a life time. And no I have not seen either the Reeve's pheasant! For information, on bird guides for the last few days there have been daily reports of it nesting to the south of the ponds (strong nashing of teeth).

nesting?

Has it found a mate? or did you mean resting?

I suspect the later. It is being reported nearly daily on Birdguides and is usually seen around the ponds or in nearby trees

Hi Anthony and Stephen

I took someone up to see it on Tuesday evening and it performed after a 90 minute wait. It sems to come back to an obvious ash tree on a field edge - I've seen it there on my last two visits - let me know when you are coming to Gib and I'll draw you a map !

Cheers

Kev

As you may have gathered Russell I have not seen it so I do not know the answer to your fatuous query.

After a brief and heated conversation with the better half Kev, I am now coming this Sunday (the 26th). Please submit a very simple and accurate map and would it be at all possible for you to tie the eagle to the tree for the next few days. No doubt when it awakes on Sunday morning the delights of a brief sojorn up the Yorkshire coast or a flutter across to Norfolk will appeal to it.

Thanks for the information, I will be sure to look around for this cetain ash tree and with any luck he will be sat there posing for me. there hasn't been many photographs of this bird, considering the long peroid the bird has been in Lincolnshire I am a little confused as to why this amazing bird hasn't been photographed much? Maybe beucase its a juv and missing feathers? Or just becuase its a gamble weather you see it or not?

Cheers Antony

Anthony I have met many birders who are very keen to show you pictures/video of the bird. It usually is prefaced/accompanied by the remark "it was here ten minutes ago". Not that I am bitter you understand! I think one of the problems is that it ranges over North Linconshire and without a co-ordinated group it is very difficult for an individual to track it down. On the positive side I have increased my knowledge of trees immensely through hours of staring at them.

In recent weeks it has actually wandered virtually nowhere and as for decent photos it is a big wild raptor and hence not tame; it's chosen roost is not close to a public access point which is why is uses it!

I understand the bird isn't tame, and that it wants to stay away from humans. The bird is magnificent and being a bit of a photographer myself In the situation of having the bird fly past I don't think I would grab the camera I would have to stand and admire. I think most photographers have had that moment? I certainly have before :)

well photographs phew, when i flushed it whilst on my tetrad count from ten ft distance jaw dropping it certainly is and cameras were the last thing that entered my mind, when you can see all those burnt orange toes then the talons and see all that with your bare eyes because your bins do not focus that close, breathtaking and bowel shifting is more like it, =D> =D>

Hi Terry

Perhaps you should have a word with those landowners in East Suffolk who objected to the reintroduction of White tailed Eagle. If they were aware of their bowel shifting properties they could save a fortune on laxatives.

also phil no complaints about stolen lambs chickens turkeys or anything else, aah let man live in harmony with our wonderful wild creatures instead of trying to maximize output by the slaughter of what little we have left. WHY do we shoot JAYS, jackdaws etc on the pretense of they are protecting wildlife, what crap !!!!!
