It seems that we have a lot of interesting information in the general forums which might usefully be collated into articles.

In particular Freddies experiences of waxwings this winter. This would be a good article for future reference and to remind those of us with increasing numbers of 'senior moments' what an incredible year it has been.

What a coincidence! I was thinking exactly the same thing - perhaps an article for the newsletter. And who better to write it than Freddy himself?

Thanks, Hugh and Robert, for your posts and they have encouraged me to consider some sort of writing activity regarding the Waxwing Winter 2010/11 and Spring 2011. In fact, I think I shall begin this very night to burn the midnight oil in an attempt to assemble in a (hopefully ) readable form, as an LBC Bird Chat post, my relevant background notes, recollections and personal observations stretching over 6 calendar months :

from - 9 November 2010...7 Waxwings at the Carlton Centre, Outer Circle Road, Lincoln
to......14 April 2011........3 Waxwings in Cowslip Drive, Melton Mowbray, Leics.
....plus a few historical references.

That 6-month calendar period encompasses 78 specifically targetted and documented Waxwing trips including 36 successful trips to 22 different sites - all faithfully recorded as far as I know on the LBC website - and all in Lincs except for the Melton Mowbray trip on 14 April.......but we wont be dwelling on the 42 dips which weren't recorded on the LBC website.

Writing such a Waxwing post will probably further affect the way my hair is starting to stand up crest-like, and also increase the growing number of wax-wrings around my eyes. I shall doubtless further develop the black mask-like markings now covering my forehead to go with the noticeable black patch that has appeared on my throat. Hopefully, I shan't be developing a dumpy body and short fat legs or a thick yellow stripe on my rear nether regions.

Anyway, I have no real complaints about the task ahead and it will certainly be a labour of love. :D :)
