Russell,
Very well put, and as you say, we are all different with different priorities....but in the end we should promote the interests of all birds to the best of our ability.

Regards,

Freddy

Update - Sun 29th May

I called in at the RSPB Marquee this afternoon......the webcam showed that the 4 chicks have grown appreciably since my last visit 2 weeks ago. They were quite active, moving around the nesting tray and towards 'the outside world'.

The tiercel remained perched on the N side of the E Tower most of the afternoon, occasionally flying off but soon returning to a favoured perch ( 'set' in the RSPB 'scopes); he was still there when I left just after 4.00.

Thanks to RSPB volunteers incl. Colin Gould, Gwen Randall and Eddie Charlton.

The RSPB will open up again at 11.00 tomorrow. (BHol Monday).

A young male has become the first of this year's 4-chick brood to take flight from its nest site at Lincoln Cathedral.

The 6 week-old bird was seen taking short, tentative flights from the SE corner of the E (central) Tower c. 5pm Tuesday 7th June. The remaining 3 fledglings should all be ready to go in the next few days. The RSPB Marquee Watchpoint will be staffed this weekend from 11.00 - 4.00pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Update : Sat 18 June

I visited the RSPB Marquee - an excellent shelter in the showery weather with a dozen others - from 1.30 today ( Sat ).

There were 3 juvenile Peregrines and the adult tiercel perched on the E side of the Central Tower. Not much action in the rain. :(

Update : Sun 24 July

I re-visited the RSPB Marquee/Peregrine Watchpoint at Lincoln Cathedral today (Sun), arriving just after 3.00pm.

The adult female was perched on the Central Tower throughout my visit ( to 4.00pm), the adult male was seen in flight and 2 juveniles were seen perched/in flight. All 4 fledged juveniles (2 male, 2 female) have been seen this past week, including one successfully catching its own prey (Starling).

Next weekend Sat 30/Sun 31 July will be the last weekend this year for the manning of the RSPB Marquee/ Peregrine Watchpoint.
