Want to be more serious about recording Dragonflies and Damselflies?

Contact the county Dragonflies & Damselflies recorder – Ian Cappitt - ian.cappitt@environment-agency.gov.uk who will send you a spreadsheet which can be used to record all your sightings on and return them to him in a standard format.

Andrew

At the LNU AGM this year, Richard Chadd and I took over as joint dragonfly recorders for Lincolnshire. I am currently working to bring all the records together in one database and to submit them to the British Dragonfly Society for the Atlas project for which the fieldwork is running 2008-2013. http://www.dragonflysoc.org.uk/dragonfliesinfocus.html if you want to know more. You don't have to be a BDS member make a contribution.

I have created an Excel spreadsheet for anyone who wants to use it. PM me if you want a copy.

Other means of recording are available at http://www.dragonflysoc.org.uk/recording.html but please let me have a copy. Paper records are fine also.

Thanks

Nick

Above is a map from Steve Prentice (British Dragonfly Society - Dragonfly Atlas Officer) showing recording effort in Lincolnshire in 2008 - 2009.

Well watched sites (Whisby, MSQ, Baston) show up well (blue) with other sites/areas (River Witham downstream of Lincoln, Trent valley and the coastal NNRs) having had some records submitted. Most of the map is yellow (no records) so any records will be gratefully received.

Some have kindly submitted their records for 2008/09 to me and they will be forwarded shortly to BDS for the Atlas.

As in the previous posting, if anyone wants a spreadsheet to record to, please PM me.

Thanks

Nick
