Although not record breakers it would appear some spp are having a late season.

Whisby 01/09/07

20+ Azure Damselfly

Fiskerton Fen 03/09/07

4m Black-tailed Skimmer

Plus all the other usual suspects typically on the wing at this time of year.

Having said that this one might just be some kind of record.

Working at Boultham Mere today (4 September) and was very surprised to net 2 Variable Damselfly (1 male 1 female). The flight peroid for this spp has normally finished by early Aug in this country, but I note in Dijkstra and Lewington that they may be on the wing until mid September in a European context.
