Hairy Dragonfly and several Red-eyed Damselflies on the Warping Drain just behind Langholme Wood at grid ref SK 751 981.
Not sure how common Hairies are in Lincs.

Hello Phil

Hairy Dragonflies are scarce in Lincs and as such I believe are still regarded as 'notable'

There are recent records from south of the county in the Baston/Thurlby area and from the Messingham area which has always been something of a stronghold. Interestingly I recorded a male at Whisby (SW Lincoln) just last Saturday. There have been other records from the Lincoln area in recent years, but the species is not recorded on a regular basis here (yet!)

This may yet turn out to be a good year for HD's, they have been reported in apparantly good numbers at Messingham Sand Quarry in the last few days.

I don't know if your HD refers to a new site or not, but I would recommend that you send your record (and any other Odonata reports) to the County Recorder; Ian Capitt 7 Millthorpe, Nr Sleaford Lincs NG34 0LD e-mail imc@bullen.co.uk

Hope this helps.

Grahame

I have been in contact with Ian Capitt regarding records on the forum.

I am hopeful that soon all records from the Forum will automatically be forwarded to Ian, in the same way that bird records are all added to the LBC database. I will keep everyone informed?

All the best

Andrew
