Just by chance while visiting Frampton RSPB last Sunday,i was walking along a stretch of hedgerow near to the western edge of the farm reservoir when i found at least 6 Small red-eyed Damsels sheltering along the hedge. They were all mature insects and comprised of 5 males and a single female. After speaking to John Badley they were recorded here about 5 years ago,so may be part of a breeding population on site, but they could also be fresh migrants colonising the farm res.,as it looks an ideal breeding site with large mats of algae which the species favours. I will write a short piece on my Dragonfly sightings blog regarding this nice little record.
Regards,
Steve.
