Having spent more hours than I care to recall lying in my garden this month for no better reason than an imovable disc I have been watching my 1-2 Migrant Hawkers perching in the trees and patrolling the skies above. Yesterday evening the flying ants started to emerge from the usual nest in one of our flower beds. Almost immediately the mixtas began catching them about 12 feet up and a feeding frenzy developed with 8-10 dragons dashing up and down between the two six feet high brick walls that enclose the drive. As the cloud increased and the air cooled the dragons flew ever lower until they were moving within 6 inches of the ground picking off the Ants literally as they took their first short lived flights.
