Hi

BDS has redesigned its website http://www.british-dragonflies.org.uk/ and it is well worth a look.

Favourites such as Latest Sightings are still there http://www.british-dragonflies.org.uk/content/latest-sightings .

Of particular interest to those who are contributing to the Atlas is a regularly updated interactive map showing progress http://www.british-dragonflies.org.uk/content/national-dragonfly-atlas ; it displays 10km squares where it is estimated that we are 'missing' species at a county level. Please take time to look at this map. All records are welcome - we have 2011 and 2012 to address some of the recording 'holes'.

You can still submit your records online with BDS http://www.british-dragonflies.org.uk/content/submit-records - I hope to be advertising an new online system developed by Adrian Bicker which uses Google Earth maps to pinpoint records and allows users to monitor recording progress in their area.

Thanks

Nick

Hi

The map showing progress on the Dragonfly Atlas (2008-2012) ( http://www.british-dragonflies.org.uk/c ... nfly-atlas and click on Lincolnshire map ) shows the following 10km squares with no post-2000 records (red).

TF04 Sleaford
TF14 Heckington
TF23 Donnington Gosberton Quadring
TF27 Hemingby West Ashby
TF29 Binbrook North Thoresby
TF31 Holbeach Drove Gedney Hill Sutton St James
TF32 Moulton Holbeach
TF45 Wrangle Friskney
TF54 mudflat in Wash - ignore
TF56 Skegness Ingoldmells (and Gibraltar Point north end)
TF58 Sutton on Sea Mablethorpe
SK92 Colsterworth
SK99 Helmswell Kirton in Lindsey Waddingham

There are also plenty of yellow 10km squares where fewer than expected species have been recorded.

Plenty to go at then!

If anyone is out and about, could you please record any odonata that you see and send your records to me or submit them online to British Dragonfly Society at http://www.british-dragonflies.org.uk/c ... it-records

Thanks

Nick
