A warmer day yesterday and a fine, warm, humid day today has seen a veritable explosion in numbers of Small Red-eyed Damselflies at Gib Point today. Chris, together with a little help from Monica and myself, counted at least 180 pairs in tandem on Mill Pond, Eric's Pond, Shoveller's Pond and the Mere - they seemed to be everywhere and virtually all industriously ovipositing. There surely would have been more if the sun had stayed out. Worth a look.

Given the potential numbers that could emerge next year - if all ponds don't dry up - it is highly likely that they will start to move away from Gib and begin to colonise the hinterland.
