Cheers Steve,
It was a few weeks ago we visited in peak season for Large Heath but the weather was too wet. I had used the LWT site though as I say the track to the south section looked blocked.
The habitat just didn't look right for Large Heath on the north section from past experience, no Cotton Grass. Will try soon for drags and next year for LH
Cheers
John

Hi John,if you look on the Lincolnshire Trust for Nature conservations web site, you can find all the information you require on there, grid refs, parking etc.You have visited far too late to see Large Heath, ideally you need to be visiting in the first 2 weeks of July. The species occurs mainly on the northern section of the site and is widespread over this part of the reserve, being seen anywhere there is a suitable nectar source, usually Bramble or Knapweed. As for the dragons, you are now coming into the best time of year to visit the site,as there should be hundreds of Black Darter on the wing and recently i had a large count of Common Hawker. There are also other species present such as Southern Hawker,Common Darter and Ruddy Darter, but you relly need to be visiting in hot, sunny conditions.
Regards
Steve.
