A large group of about 200 Canada Geese seem to be either preparing for migration or are restless and un-nerved by something around and about.

For the last 15 minutes or so, they've been flying around and calling very loudly, only settling briefly on a small privately-owned lake nearby before getting airborne and calling again. I'm used to Canada Geese doing this, but not for this length of time, regularity or volume.....

Can anyone explain what might be going on?

They certainly won't be migrating Katherine, they will probably have been spooked by something at their chosen roosting site.
