I ventured forth today after the storms and visited North Thorsby and Covenham Reservoir. I wanted to see how the profusion of Bee Orchids had fared in the adverse conditions. My previous visit was 14th June when i counted 54 at least. Never ever in 30 years of birding and consevation work have i seen so many in one small area before, imagine my outrage to find that they had cut the grass by the yacht club and not a single plant has survived. I went to the reception and made a complaint to be told it was probably the yacht club that had cut the grass. I told them i was going to take it further and they assured me that they would investigate this serious incident. To cut a long story short being new to the area i do not know who to contact about this so please help me with information in this regard. Iam utterly enraged about this situation so please put me in touch with the appropriate people. I also saw a hobby there,
terry whalin.

Its the mentality of "if it grows, cut it down and tame it" that is prevalent in human nature.
