Re Matters Arising , it's obviously poor form not to reply to private messages, but I didn't receive any notification via my email address - hence the lack of response.

It's only tonight, having read the committee meeting minutes, that I have discovered the messages had been stored - unread by me - in the LBC's internal system.

So apologies for inadvertently snubbing you, Robert - I appreciate your interest in my suggestion re swift boxes.

Reading further down the Minutes, it may be that the buzzard-tracking scheme would be a potential candidate for a grant application - perhaps jointly submitted by BTO and LBC. Wind energy companies tend to be sensitive about the impact of turbines on raptors, so Dong might well want to co-operate with sponsorship.

Re the swift boxes, I wanted to approach Grimsby Institute about replicating a project at Conwall College where swift boxes were installed a couple of years ago.

However, I am awaiting clarification from Cornwall College on a) whether their scheme has attracted any swifts and b) about the costs involved.

If it has been unsuccessful, then it is probably not worth approaching Grimsby Institute.

Of course, it may be that members have other, more viable ideas for "species conservation" projects. The deadline for grant applications is March 15.
