Post subject:  RSPB decides against legal challenge on 300-turbine windfarm

Despite their vehement opposition to Dong Energy's proposed 300-turbine windfarm some 55 miles offshore from Grimsby, the RSPB has revealed it will not be challenging the decision of the Government to green-light the project.

I have blogged the society's reasons at: http://www.thewryneck.blogspot.co.uk/

It seems that Natural England has pulled the rug from under the RSPB's feet.

True, the regeneration of Grimsby's economy hinges on the increasing number of jobs likely to created by the offshore renewables industry.

However, it will be sad if these new jobs are at the expense of marine wildlife.

I can't help but think that the new windfarm will further jeopardise the welfare of sea birds, migrating waders, wildfowl and songbirds, plus whales, porpoises and seals.

I hope someone can assure me that my misgivings are without foundation.
