Post subject:  Request to the Lincolnshire Bird Club committee

May I make a request to the committee?

Assuming funds are available, please could the club invest in the purchase and installation of one or two (or more) swift boxes?

The committee has good contacts with the church folk of Louth, so possibly one located in a church in or around the town might be a good starting point ( not necessarily at St James given that the peregrines got there first).

I feel such a project would not only be worthy in itself but might also some generate some welcome publicity (for both the birds and the club) in the local media.

It might also encourage some householders to follow a similar course of action.

Perhaps the local councils could do something similar on their premises. Or even the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust at its Horncastle HQ/reserve sites (assuming some are not already in situ).

I hope this might be put on the agenda for consideration at the next committee meeting.
