No Graham although I found a few new species for the selfy list I am now stuck on 197 , as
some of the autumn species seen had been found by others , even though I spent many hours on my local patch
(Rimac to Brickyard Lane), but still an enjoyable birding spell, even though I missed a very good week
in mid Oct , as I was in Portugal.

I finished 2016 on 209 found out of 213 seen in Lincs. The birds seen but not found were Red-flanked Bluetail, Western Bonelli's Warbler, Alpine Accentor and Cattle Egret.

This compares favourably with 2015 when I managed 210 self found out of 217 seen in Lincs. Seen but not found in 2015 were Black Stork, Dotterel, White-winged Black Tern, Red-footed Falcon, Barred Warbler, Icterine Warbler and Little Bunting.

Regards to all and hoping for a bird filled 2017

My final tally after finding a Mealy Redpoll on Dec 31st was 206 self found out of 223 but I had some really silly missing species like Long-eared Owl, Purple Sand, Marsh tit which I don't usually go for, Nightingale ditto, no shrikes at all, no Black Redstart, Wryneck, Razorbill, Manx Shearwater, Iceland Gull, Temminck's , BT or GN diver shows how little seawatching I have done I guess; I guess 220 is possible in a good year ?

After not adding anything for over a month I finished up on 202 self found out of 226 seen in Lincs in 2016 and ‘green’ on foot from my home in North Hykeham 146 out of 150.

Although putting some time in seawatching with no Sooty Shearwater and only two Skua spp seen at safely identifiable range, no prizes for guessing which ones, pretty much sums it up.

Birds not seen at all in 2016 inexplicably included Little Owl.

Surely 220 should be possible in a good year if a serious attempt was made.

Regards,

Ben
