Alan Ball and Keith Bowden are offering a ringing demonstration, to which LBC members are invited, at Marston near Grantham on Saturday 27th July from 09:00 to 16:00 weather permitting. Directions to Marston and car parking can be downloaded at http://www.lincsbirdclub.co.uk/Articles ... thJuly.pdf

Birds likely to be encountered will be mainly Reed and Sedge Warblers, but with a variety of other birds including other warblers (even with the possibility of Cetti's Warbler !)

In the event of this having to be cancelled due to the weather – details will be posted on here.

The weather stayed fine for the ringing demonstration and 135 birds were ringed and 24 retrapped. Best retrap was a Reed Warbler ringed in 2006 which has clocked up many thousands of miles migrating to Africa and back at least 7 times.
New birds included 60 x Reed Warbler, 26 X Sedge Warbler with smaller numbers of Whitethroat, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Yellow Wagtail, Goldfinch and some resident Blue Tits, Great Tits, Dunnocks and Wren.
