The Lincolnshire Bird Club

We are now a quarter of the way through the BTO Bird Atlas and it is interesting to see what progress has been made in Lincolnshire.

South and West Lincolnshire are well on course having completed 40% and 61% respectively of the target Timed Tetrad Visits for Winter and 32% and 57% respectively of the target TTVs for the breeding season.

The situation in North and east Lincs is not so good with 28% and 24% respectively of Winter TTVs completed and only 18% and 14% respectively of breeding season TTVs completed.

It would be a great shame if Lincolnshire's birdlife was not fully recorded for posterity in this survey and I would urge all birders with the slightest interest in the status of Lincolnshire's birds to take on some tetrads in your area.

Even prime coastal 10km squares such as TF57 have had no tetrads allocated yet. Nor has TA01 in North Lincolnshire which includes the apparent birdwatching mecca of Worlaby Carrs.

A competent and reasonably fit birder armed with an OS map could easily do 3 TTVs in a day and on a bike (my preferred method) 4 or more should be quite possible. What has happened to all the green listers of last year? Here is your latest challenge!
