Post subject:  Snow leopard success

Have recently returned from a 32 day trip to the region of Ladakh in Northern India. The main reason for the trip was to search for the elusive Snow leopard.We set up camp in the Hemis national park after 3 days acclimatization in Leh. We got 3 sightings in total of 2 different cats. My first was a large male for 90 seconds then nearly 3 weeks later came my second sighting of an aprox 3year old female for 1 hour. The following morning we again saw the same female for 2 hours 50minutes. It was by far the hardest month of my life but the most rewarding. Apart from the leopards we managed 9 other mammals and 21 new birds for myself.

Have now managed 6 species of cats in 18 months with a total of 7 trip in that time (dipped on both the european lynx species and the smaller cats in Sri Lanka).Hoping for a trip soon for Bobcat in the States but about to move into my own place instead of having it easy at home so the trips might have to be on hold for a short while.

Glad to see you caught up with the Snow Leopard Mark, bet it was a fantastic experience. If you can see one of those then the other cats should be a doddle :wink:
