Nige Lound and i took a weeks sc in Cabanas near Tavira Algarve from 14 to 21 Nov.
The weather was dry and sunny every day with afternoon temperatures of 17 to 18 oc.
We took 2 seperate days by hire car into the steepes between Castro Verde and Mertola
and had great views of spanish imperial , bonellis and golden eagles and 1 booted eagle,
lots of griffon vultures and red kites , 15 great bustards in total, flying litte bustards and black bellied sandgrouse,
flocks of corn bunts, skylarks,crested larks and calandra larks a few wood larks and common cranes and white storks,
southern grey shrikes were also seen.
along the coast between Olaho and the Spanish border were good numbers of waders spoonbills egrets and gulls and a total of 45 colour coded ringed gulls of 4 species were recorded as well as 4 spoonbills.
several white spotted bluethroats in the tall sueda on the saltmarshes, a wryneck in an old olive grove was a suprise find.
A great cheap holiday flying from East Mids costing 360£ pp all in with hire car and fuel.
