Hi

Just back from Thailand where we managed to see 5 Spoon-billed Sandpipers together with Red-necked Stints near Phetchaburi along with 25+ Nordman's Greenshank, lots of Long toed Stints, Broad-billed Sandpipers and Sandplovers.

There were plenty of migrants about with good numbers of Brown Shrikes, Olive-backed Pipits, Siberian Blue Robins and Phylloscs.

Down in the peninsular had good views of a female Gurney's Pitta with a male Banded Pitta which brought the Pitta list to 4 species having seen Eared and Blue Pitta's in the north. A day trip to the Similan Isles produced good views of several Nicobar Pigeons. All in all an excellent trip despite the forest birding being very slow at this time of year.

See our blog for further details and photos of Spoony at normanbynature.blogspot.com

regards

Wayne
