On way home called at the above, quite a few there, probably walkers. Asked if footpath to Lin Dyke hide was passable, it is but still muddy. The road from Fairburn Ings towards Castleford is closed due to flooding but they said it's possible to drive to the car park at Lin dyke, but it's got quite a bit of water standing. Decided not to bother. On the sightings board the latest of interest is Little Owl near the visitor centre, Lesser-spotted Woodpecker at Cut Hide and Smew at Hickson Flashes. It was too cold to bother. A birder told me when the flooding was at it's worst on the reserve next to the hide overlooking the small pond close by the centre, it was six feet deep. He showed me the levels on some of the trees. Had a walk round the ponds close to the walkways and side of river, but very few birds about. Most were on the feeders including the usual birds and Tree Sparrows. It was very cold out of the sun. {On way home over Mill Hill Plantation near Beltoft saw one Common Buzzard and a Kestrel}.
