Have just spent most of the day visiting Blacktoft Sands where I saw a good variety of birds. Much better than my last visit when two of the hides were impossible to gain access to because of the previous night's high tide resulting in flooded paths.
I saw:
3 Barn Owls hunting
Numerous Tree sparrows
6+ Black Tailed Godwits
Numerous Reed Buntings
1 Sedge Warbler
1 Whitethroat
4 Dunlin
1 Oystercatcher
2 Redshank
3 Great Crested Grebes (1 with chicks on its back)
Many Avocets with chicks (one of which seemed to be white - a possible albino?)
2 Shelduck
4 Shovellers
1 Ruddy Duck
Mallards
Tufted Ducks
1 Pochard
1 Mute Swan
Swifts
Black headed Gulls and chicks
Plus all the usuals (blue tits, chaffinches etc)
