Went on the annual trip into Norfolk and Suffolk with Andrew Vaughan and had a good day (yesterday)
After putting the world to rights on the drive down to Weeting Heath we were disappointed to find rain rather than the promised rain

Birds seen in this area included
stone curlew 1 only
woodlark c4
tree pipit c4
mistle thrush
nuthatch 2
common whitethroat
blackcap
willow warbler
chiffchaff
swallow

After a sandwich it was the short drive to Lakenheath Fen
Here we met two ladies who told us about the two black-winged stilts which seemed to have made the shortish commute from Frampton. We had discussed making a detour to Frampton for these!

black-winged stilt 2. Showed well - eventually even for Andrew
glossy ibis 1
bittern 3 (one booming and two in flight together
hobby c45
bearded tit
marsh harrier c15
common kestrel 2
common crane (one seen briefly)
cuckoo c5 (one showing really well)
cetti's warbler c18
grasshopper warbler 1
reed warbler c50
sedge warbler c50
reed bunting c70
common whitethroat c10
lesser whitethroat 1
little egret 1
grey heron 1
common tern 4
common swift c120
house martin
barn swallow

Well worth the visit!

I'd like to return to Norfolk, only went once but enjoyed the area around Blakeney and enjoyed sitting on the beach watching thousands of terns back and forth feeding their young :D
