A great day's birding at Rutland Water

Highlights;

Great Northern Diver 1
Black-necked Grebe 2 (together)
Great White Egret 1
Smew 3 (a drake and 2 redheads)
Greenland' White-fronted Goose 1 juv
Scaup 1 female
Red Kite 3
Pintail 85 inc a flock of 72 together!!
Green Sandpiper 1

I was there on the 3rd Jan and got the first four species as well. Great stuff. Also. a red-necked grebe was reported as being present.
