A mighty fine week away in Northern Ireland yielded a good variety of birds:-

Sunday 18th (Castle Espie)

Tuesday 20th (Slieve Donard Forest)

Blackcap (2)
Goldcrest (3)
Red Squirrel (1)

Wednesday 21st (St. Johns Point)

Marsh Harrier (1)
Kestrel (1)
Golden Plover (200+)
Stonechat (5)
Snipe (1)

Thursday 22nd (Newcastle Harbour)

Black-throated Diver (34)
Great Northern Diver (1)
Purple Sandpiper (8)
Black Guillemot (2)
Turnstone (5)
Redshank (3)
Rock Pipit (2)

Friday 23rd (Newcastle Beach)

Pale-bellied Brent (67)
Ringed Plover (3)
Oystercatcher (12)
Redshank (25+)
Curlew (1)
Grey Wagtail (1)

Good numbers of Coal Tits pretty much everywhere as well as Blackbirds. The one disappointment... Whilst I was on Newcastle Beach on Friday morning the better half stayed in bed with a bit of a cold... And got the pleasure of a pair of waxwings feeding on the tree outside!
