Whilst I studied the rising water over the flood defence wall along Waterside Rd, Barton, I was distracted by the call of a lady a few feet away. "look at the spiders" she stated. My eyes rapid change to close focus revealed the wall top populated by many, many spiders wandering to escape the grass that was disappearing under water. Within my view i could see them all over and they looked in torpor as they risked all to escape. I realised the threat to homes was not restricted to just myself and my neighbours. I heard also of a water vole sat on top of the wall too, with no where resembling home to go.

I saw some amazing sights of natural magnitude last night but this image of the spiders has reached further inside and has crossed boundaries of context.
