I went to my ringing site near Walesby Moor this afternoon and came across a metre long grass snake in the process of devouring a large common toad. It had just started when I saw it and I watched for the next six minutes as it slowly ingested it - I didn't realize just how flexible their jaws were. A fascinating "first" for me. |
